Diabolical Sudoku

Over the past few weeks I have become somewhat addicted to a number puzzle called Sudoku.

Some of you have heard about it already. For those who haven’t, the rules are simple. Every row and column will contain the numbers 1 to 9, with no duplicates. Every 9 cell box will also contain the numbers 1 to 9 with no duplicates. So it’s simply a matter of figuring out where each number goes, and the way they make the puzzles there will always be only one solution which can be figured out with logic and no guesswork.

Here’s a picture of one of the recent puzzles I worked on:

It was actually pretty easy up till this point. I can’t seem to figure out what to do next. So I used trial and error and got the solution fairly quickly – but I still need to learn what the logic rule I could have used was.

If you are interested in Sudoku visit http://sudoku.org.uk, they have some nice starting tutorials as well as a daily puzzle which I have been doing.

Dinner – Ha Bank restaurant

Had dinner at a restaurant called Ha Bank last night with Amelia. Ha simply means "the" in Hebrew, so the restaurant’s name is The Bank.

Starting with some "herb tea":

I had the Seafood pasta:

And Amelia had the vegetable soup:

The last time I went to this restaurant was in February 2004. On that occasion, we noticed a lonely chair that seemed a little odd in a restaurant:

I guess if I came alone I wouldn’t mind sitting there – but it does seem a little lonely. Got a nice shot of the salt and pepper shakers though:

Arman’s birthday

Went to Arman’s house together with some friends:

It was his birthday:

The cake was really good!

And there was lots of food – sandwiches with baguettes and all sorts of fillings! Alas I have no evidence of that, only [fond] memories.

Dinner – Goldfish restaurant

Last night we went to a restaurant called Goldfish:

Their sign has the image of a swordfish:

And their food is other types of fish:

The fish is fried so it’s all edible:

Apart from some of the bones:

Very delicious! We also had calamari and shrimp.

On the way home, a section of the road had the following painted all over the side walls:

I even managed a glimpse of the real Shrine:
